Five Years of Fern + Fell: A Thank-You from the Heart

Five years ago, I began Fern + Fell with a simple yet soulful ambition: to handcraft 100% natural, vegan, cruelty-free candles in the Lake District that would nourish wellbeing and evoke the serenity of nature. I could not be more humbled or grateful to those who’ve supported this journey – a special thank you to my incredible stockists and loyal customers who made it all possible.
Candlelight & Collaboration: My Proudest Moment
Amid these years of creativity and growth, one milestone shines particularly bright:
the Fern + Fell × Simon Rogan collaboration. Together, we curated an exclusive Rosewood & Geranium candle, a fragrance inspired by Simon’s love for geraniums - a familiar scent from his culinary world now brought into the realms of homes and interiors. It’s a perfect embodiment of how scent, design, and collaboration can create magic.
Inspired by Nature, Committed to Wellbeing
Every candle I create is rooted in nature - blended from rapeseed and coconut wax, scented with pure essential oils, and hand-poured in amber glass jars with gold lids, thoughtfully packaged with recycled kraft boxes. From each full-price sale from my online store, £1–£1.50 goes to the Cumbria Wildlife Trust - helping their work to support wildlife and habitats across our beloved landscapes.
What’s Next: Introducing "Letters from the Fells"
As I look ahead, I am excited to refresh and reimagine my newsletter and blog into something more meaningful. Welcome, Letters from the Fells: a new, more regular way for us to stay in touch. Expect stories from the business, inspiring corners of the Lake District, heartfelt conversations about candles, natural fragrances, and homes designed with nature. Think of it as a warm letter from the fells - a space where scent, place, and design meet.
Bridging Candlelight + Biophilic Interiors
This transition isn’t just about more frequent updates -it’s about strengthening the connection between Fern + Fell and my interiors practice, A Story of Home. Since launching A Story of Home in 2021, I’ve been designing soulful, biophilic spaces - homes crafted to heal, harmonise, and root us in nature. The ethos of natural wellbeing runs deeply through both brands. Fragrance is much forgotten design tool that can create so much impact in our spaces, so I want to celebrate fragrance ( natural of course) as a means to create a connection to nature at home.
