When I began to understand aromatherapy more deeply, I realised I wasn't just making candles. I was making scentscapes  - a way of bringing the natural world experience indoors into daily life and creating a sensory anchor to my favourite places.”

Every fragrance we create starts in a place and an intention: from a connection felt on a fell path, a forest floor, a coastal edge, a moment at the lake shore or a garden at the turn of the season.

Fern + Fell was born from that understanding. We work only with pure essential oils — never synthetic fragrance — because the holistic properties of each plant matter to us as much as the scent itself.

WHAT WE MAKE & HOW

Our candles are blended and hand-poured in small batches in the Lake District, using a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax making them plant-based, clean-burning, free from paraffin, soy, palm oil and synthetic additives. Cotton wicks, amber glass, recycled kraft packaging. Every detail considered, nothing wasted.

Our ingredients are 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free. But more than a product specification, that is a commitment: to what we put into the world, and what we put into your home. Scent is intimate. It enters the body with every breath. We take that seriously.

 

THE NATURE CONNECTION

Research into biophilic design and the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku — forest bathing — increasingly confirms what most of us already know instinctively: time in nature restores something essential. The sights, sounds and scents of the natural world regulate the nervous system, reduce cortisol and return us to ourselves.

Not everyone can walk the fells each morning. But scent is one of the most direct routes back to a felt sense of the natural world. That is what a Fern + Fell candle offers: not just fragrance, but a genuine scentscape — nature, distilled and brought home.
